Trail Relay

In an 8 person team trail relay, if we expect to finish in around 20 hours, would we start later than 8 am on Friday morning so that we finish later in the day on Saturday the next day? Also if one of our members didn't want to run alone in the dark could one of us run with them on their night time leg?
